Outside mural connects to interior





It began as banners for Hispanic Heritage Month,
but slowly grew into a permanent work
for the Northfield Public Library.

I chose landscapes instead of flags —
rolling hills, rivers, jungles, mountains,
from Minnesota to Patagonia,
woven into one horizon.
For me, heritage lives in the places
that shape us and hold us together.
The land carries memory,
crossing boundaries long before we drew lines on maps.

Through color and terrain,
this mural reminds me we already belong
to something shared.
